Compared to the bilbo model on the base smaug looks HUGE! The face also looks a lot better now in proper lighting. Exciting times 8)

Truly the first photo leaked for Smaug made him look weird and not that much impressive but now i must say i am stunned! Much better view of his size and detail, it is truly a trophy for every hardcore collector.

The militia look pretty rubbish IMO. I highly doubt I'll pick them up unless the rules are amazing.

And according to the Perry Miniatures facebook page - Smaug is actual, proper resin, of the Forge World variety. Which means I have to find 300 quid.

Awesome sculpting and the fact that it is Forgeworld material and not GW Finecast just makes it better. I honestly thought that it would be more expensive, especially because of the high quality material. The production cost on Smaug must have been huge!

It was Michael's last sculpt for GW and as MOTN says his first digital sculpt.

Just picked up the White Dwarf. The Laketown Militia look great, but are pretty generic guys as you'd expect. The Captain is a very nice sculpt. I'll likely pick them all up eventually.

All Laketown models are themed around fishing - one with a spear made from a harpoon, another with a fishing knife strapped to a pole, etc. You could easily proxy these guys with other models though, nothing to make them stand out as being from Middle-Earth IMO.

Nothing new to report on Smaug, all the leaked pics cover what's in WD. I'm not crazy about the large scales on his shoulders, but other than that the model looks great. There are tiny scales sculpted over the entire surface of his skin, you can't see that easily in the leaked photos. The gold coins on the base are individually sculpted.

A ragtag Laketown militia in Finecast? No thank you, they should've been in plastic. Better to get the city guards that are Finecast.

Rules for Smaug should be in the supplement with issue 46 (available on the 13th December).

All the other releases are not in a price bracket I am interested in for 28mm minis.
