Hi all.

I have started to paint my fountain court guards. I have given them Numenor shields.

I have painted the cloaks blue the Armour silver and the front; black and white (the same as the GW color scheme)

Now my question is what color do I paint the shield? I don't want to leave the shield black and I am thinking of red like Boromir's shield but this feels like the colors will be too cluttered. Blue, white, black and red??

What color?

I used two colors: black and white. Many people insist that using the minimum number of available colors in a miniature is a key to keep balance and quality. Personally I liked em with that!

I'm planning on painting my FCG similar to this model - http://www.coolminiornot.com/281756

You could add gold highlights to the armour and make the shield black with highlighted gold?

or black and white usually works for shields regardless of the miniature paint scheme

I say black and white, with the rim silver or gold. It looks like this, tying the shield in to the model quite nicely, I think:

Or how about a white shield? With detailing in gold or something?

No, I don't want to go black for the shield I want them to stand out (more than they do so now) from regular warriors, the white could work.

How about choose between white, blue and Red.

White could work because it goes with the white front.
Blue goes with the blue cloak
Red; want to go red but it feels like too many colours.

A good way of painting a really dark regal blue is to paint the area as you would if it were black (I normally layer Abaddon Black, Eshin Grey, Dawnstone, Administratum Grey), then give the area two very thin washes of Kantor Blue. Using a foundation paint to wash blends all the greys nicely together, and adds a very subtle tint of blue.
