Yeah, about 5-6 hours for me too. Generally spread over a couple of sessions.

3 hours for a normal figur and I spend about 5 hours for cavarly (rohan, etc.). Hero's is something I Always have on my table and can spend hours and hours on to get it to my satisfaction.

2 and a half hours on a face here, and counting. Mind you I did spend the bulk of that fixing a gammy eye.

I never bothered with them before, but I've hit on a nice way of doing them that doesn't stand out at arms length, but looks good if you look up close.

No secrets here my friend. What's your new technique?

My problem with the fine details like eyes is, well my eyes.

Devlan Mud eyesight is a curse for a miniature painter.

I've spent at least 4 or 5 hours on Thorin oakenshield and I'm still not happy. Some models are just easier than others to paint.

Off topic! I'm preparing a tutorial, but it went wrong so took ages. In a nutshell, dont use white.

Back on topic, took 8 hours on my latest, with at least 3 of those being distracted-dinner,taking pics, browsing here and other images etc. So around 5. Might time myself again. Used to take me 2 hours in the old days, but I put more in now.

When I'm motivated and able to paint uninterrupted basic infantry take around 1 hour each, cavalry are twice that. Heroes and characters are generally around the 6 hour mark. That said, I am strictly a tabletop painter. I like neat, high contrast paint jobs because they remain visually distinct on the tabletop. Some showcase miniatures are masterfully painted, but visually muddled at tabletop distances.

For me an average of 1 hour or so for heroes and 35 minutes for average troops

I'm not much of a gamer myself but I also really like the high contrast jobs. Its a great way to make the model's detail stick out.

STATS UPDATED

People: 24

Your times range from 6 minutes to 10 hours.
Your average paint job takes 3 hours 29 minutes!

Thanks again everyone for the input! :D
