Without a doubt Dave's conversion is beautiful and simple (and much needed) but I just had to go for River Zora this time, a lovely recreation from the film.

This gets harder to pick a winner every time. The level of skill is just amazing.

Well done to everyone :yay:

But for me it has to be River Zora

While River Zora's scene is beautiful, and a wonderful recreation of the scene, I had to choose Ridgeback's Dain for the sheer immense amount of care and detail you put in. Truly extraordinary to all entries, and especially to Ridgeback.

Wow that was tough. Went for UKFB in the end over Son of Durin purely on the fact that it was finished. In terms of quality I couldn't separate them.

Wow. Well done all! So hard to choose... Every time it gets harder.

Ridgeback's Dain... The level of care and time on this film-based scratch sculpt is amazing! Cannot wait for pictures of him based and painted!

River Zora! Wonderful capturing of that scene! Well done.

Ukfreddybear's Thranduil is beautiful. Its the simplest conversion for him on elk, yet the most effective and beautiful by far! You convinced us to get the model and try your conversion out!

In the end, our vote goes to Ridgeback! Awesome job! Your sculpts are great. :D

This is a very close one, between Zora and Ridgeback. Both excellent pieces of work! In the end, I went for Zora for doing something more than 'just' a mini (not using 'just' to imply anyone else's work was lesser, by the way, just that the diorama takes the piece above and beyond) Fantastic stuff all round, though!

I just couldn't go with RiverZora. The bow would just pop out of the wood when you put any force into it. That setup is just so ridiculous and impossible that, even though it looks great in how you made it, I just can't vote for it.

Had to go with GothmogtheWerewolf for the sheer number he has completed.

All wonderful entries, very difficult but Ridgeback for me as an overall excellent piece of work.

It's a pity my model was so titanic it was almost impossible to actually have it completely in a photo. Which is a shame as no one has even mentioned me so far. I still hate taking pictures of greens, my camera doesn't like it, if you wanna see more of my Smaug just follow the link in my signature

I hope you're not blaming me for Peter Jackson's ridiculousness ;)

But it's true. I felt so silly whilst making it. I actually had to stop every so often when I remembered it was an actual thing that actually happened in the film. Which just made it all the more silly...

Whenever you sit down to watch the DoS or the BotFA you always feel that someone is trying to pull your leg....

A lot of things are just overdone and ridiculous in these last films, but for us that doesn't devalue any projects based on them! (We aren't fans of Legolas stunts or even Dian riding a boar for that matter!) Your project is awesome!

I'm only blaming you for choosing it! the worst part was that they were building up the Windlance for so long, and then they did that.

All the above sculpts get my kudos, excellent work and an inspiration. I have gone with my first instinct when looking through.........River Zora. I think you have captured the essence of the scene. Well done all.

Wouldn't mind seeing a fan edit, in which the improvised ballista simply snaps, after which Smaug roasts and eats Bard&Son (but not before the latter asks 'seriously Dad. That was your plan? Are you mental?). Although that will probably result in Legolas killing Smaug instead, which would also be terrible.

Anyway, voted for the stag. Couldn't decide at first (most work? best job? closest resemblence? etc.), but finally simply thought: which of those is so good, I'd probably buy it. Or, in this case: buy the seperate antlers, perhaps, after giving up scratch-building them following half a dozen failed attempts...

Nice! I like what you have done with him! 8)
Although, on some pictures of the head he reminds me of the dragon from Shrek
