Loving these conversions! I really like the metal wargs over the plastic wargs and you've done an amazing job of both painting them and making them a bit more individual.... may copy you a little if I can find my wargs.....

An amazing job once more MOTN! I really like these alternate models, I think they'll work very well to customize armies or represent different tribes / clans. The sculpting job is amazing as usual and I am more than envious on the speed you sculpt in! Can't wait to see the progress, especially the heads / weapons. Can I ask what you used to make the shield? I have been looking for ways to make nice round slim shields for ages... Thank you very much! 8)

Your alternate figures are fantastic. Not sure which medium would be best.
Not a fan of the GW fine cast. Would definitly want some though.

As always you can count on picking up some of these, they fit right in to the look of the existing range and are great for either alternatives or variety (or in my case whole armies ;))

Very simple - it's a drawing pin! You can even bend the sharp bit into the armature for the forearm.

Just for clarity on my sculpts I'll be doing by and large original designs, so no copying and paying respect to intellectual property.

Now I need to decide what to do first...

That's probably a smart idea if you plan on selling them...I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

That's really good idea, so far I only did shields with Green Stuff, but it's hard to get them perfectly round. I was given the tip to use ring washers, but I haven't found one in an appropriate thickness yet. I will have to give it a try and compare it to my Green Stuff shields soon...
I have another question if I may: How do you achieve such perfectly smooth surfaces? I use clay shapers and vaseline and all that but I never achieve such a clean result as you do!
Thanks!
Bennet

Lovely stuff! I've been considering picking up some of your evil dwarves and using them for Iron Hills Dwarves. These new sculpts look great as well! As for preferred material, I would always rather have metal over resin. I just feel like they will hold up better over time, and given the rate that I get stuff painted, I'll need all the time I can get!

Just practice really, getting to know the putty and judging the correct amount of water/lubricant you use. I've only got one main wedge shaped sculpting tool I use for most things. Perhaps try letting the putty cure for 15-20 mins once the sculpting is done then go back and smooth it.

As a means to avoid any "real" miniature work I've gone and put together (cleaned up, based, undercoated..) a small Isengard Uruk-Hai force! One berserker arrived from ebay minus a sword so he needs a little conversion and sculpting work before undercoat.

These are hatchet job conversions but I think they'll paint up nice!

Part of my quick and easy “learn to game”collection, I've not painted one of these elves since about 2002 (13 years... gulp). I'll do better pics in my light tent when the cavalry are finished, but the paint jobs are basic. 6 archers, 9 swordsmen, 3 cavalry and 1 mounted hero.

The maiden and unicorn are from Dark Sword miniatures, slightly out of proportion but I thought this would make an interesting game objective (maybe a spell of concealment cast by the elf to hide her and the wounded unicorn for 6 turns or something).

I wish I had your hatchet :D

The maid and unicorn instantly reminded my of Legend, really looking forward to seeing them painted up.

I like the mounted elf conversions. A great improvement on the cloaks found on the GW versions in my opinion. How are the Fallen Dwarves coming along by the way? The statue on your blog looks good. Is there any likelihood of seeing the Fallen Dwarf leaders for sale at any point? Also the elves and good dwarves we've seen hints of. There are so many things I look forward to seeing from you!

I also had a look back at your Galadhrim. Beautifully painted. Any chance of a tutorial at some point?

Fallen Dwarves keep stalling at the moment, Anvil Industry are busy with their second kickstarter. I've just discovered a local resin caster though and this weekend I'll be handing over a selection of mini's for testing purposes...

Yep hope to one day do a tutorial for the Galadhrim! No eta right now.

Excuse these horrible photo's, first colour blocking and a wash done on the elf cavalry, and I'm working on the first of my Mahud warg riders (I got 10 casts for personal use).
