Looks great, wish I had seen him before attempting my own conversions.. would have saved a lot of trial and especially error!

Lead was soft. Pewter and tin are a lot harder to cut. I have used a cut off wheel myself. But to save as much of the model as you can the small hand tools often are better. Do not forget that you can drill a hole for the blade for the really hard to save parts. I like flat saw blades but round ones are better for some things. Friction will cause the model to get hot. I often clamp the saw in the vice and hold the figure in my hand.

Wear safety glasses. I have all of my fingers.

As I have grown older I have lost a lot of my hearing. Think about saving it when you are around machines.

So how much of it did you actually cut because my main thing is how did you cut the bottom half? I wanna do conversions and cut Theodred in half and other metals.

I didn't cut this mini in half at all. I just cut away the cloak from the legs and sword. If you want to cut minis in half at the waist I suggest the razor saw. It is what I use on most of my mounted convesions. The only thing to be wary of is things in the way, such as a dangling arm or sword hilt.

An xacto knife will only cut about 1 or 2 mm deep into metal so is not ideal for thick cuts. The blade can be used as a plane however to shave slivers of metal away, which is what I did once the bulk of the cloak had been cut away.

very cool stuff.

I just attempted to sculpt a cape for a first time. Let's just say it didn't go well, haha. But, doing so, I realized even more how incredibly talented sculptors like yourself are.
