Much improved! Contrast seems fine. Maybe a little lighter and sharper on the extreme f
ridges.

Thanks for all the CC guys. It's been really helpful. I've added an edge highlight like some of you suggested and I think it's really come along nicely. It could be a bit smoother in places but I think that's more to do with paint drying out than my painting.

SonsOfHurin - I use Mournfang Brown as the base. Sometimes I find that after I've done the second wash that I think the recesses aren't dark enough in some places, mainly between the bands of the chest plate so I add another wash with Nuln Oil. Just see how you feel about the contrast after the first two washes though so you don't end up overdoing it.

Much better on the cloak, look for a few mid tones to smooth it out, it's a little dark then light with little in between.

Yep you've got it. Now dont agonize over it, move on to something new, learn some more. You can always touch it up later down the line. Well done!

It's about time I posted a picture of this guy. Probably my first conversion if you can call it that, just a head swap really. Thank you very much for the spare Glorfindel model (you know who you are). I didn't use any green stuff because I can't but it's on the agenda to learn. I also pained up a battle company of Easterlings to play with a mate at uni. I thoroughly enjoyed painting them so I'm considering expanding them into a full army. Anyway, here's a couple pics.

Easterlings are a very cool design. I like those a lot.

Nice work on the Glorfindel conversion Dom. Good to see the head go to some good use.

Easterlings look awesome too.

As we say in Suffolk I'm gettin' orrrn with my Easterling. I've just finished the leader of the army; Khamul the Easterling on Fell Beast. Honestly this model is one of the coolest I've ever painted and I really learnt a lot. Screwed up the beast's armour a bit but I think it still looks fierce. The banner bearer is also done (I don't need a banner in the list I've written but it seemed a shame not to paint it). The rest of the kataphracts are on their way.

Like what you did with the Fell Beast, really made him unique and part of the your army.

I'll echo the others...The Fell Beast conversion looks awesome! It's definitely the first time I've seen one of those.

3/6 Easterling Kataphrakts are done. They're getting special uniforms to mark their status as Black Dragons. So far I have the patterns/styles below and I'm thinking raglan, striped (think AC Milan) and harlequin print for the other three (if I'm feeling brave). I'd like to improve my ability to paint black so any tips would be appreciated (I'm currently basing with black, highlighting with Eshin and Dawnstone and then washing with Nuln). Cheers.

These are looking really good, I think I'll be doing something similar to the all black one for my Dragons when I get to them.
