Just to double check...

1) Kardush's flame burst is magic...so it can be resisted, correct?

2) There are no In The Way restrictions, as Flame Burst is not an arrow, and done as magic in move phase, correct?

3) It does not matter if the targeted enemy is in a fight or not, correct?

4) For only ten points more and nearly identical stats, it obvious I should always take Kardush over an ordinary Orc Shaman....correct?

thanks; opinions welcome.

1. Correct
2. As long as you can draw a clear line of sight you can take the shot.
3. I don't know the answer to this.
4. This depends on your army build. Though he is useful, you may find yourself in need of those ten points for something else. Same goes with any other piece in the game. There is never an, "I should always use mini X over mini Y," situation.

I don't exactly know about the rules, but honestly I would just count it as a projectile because otherwise I think it's kinda dumb for a fireball to be 'resisted' or magically (no pun intended) pass through like a defended rampart or something.

It's treated the exact same way as Black Dart. So, Yes, Yes, Yes and most likely.

In terms of Kardush vs regular Shamans, if you just want to pay for Fury, Kardush is definitely the superior choice. It's happened to me often enough that I try to channel it Fury, roll two dice, fail both and end up without Fury all game. Kardush doesn't run that risk, if you fail it the first turn, sacrifice an Orc and try again next turn. Take a regular Shaman if you want that backup Transfix or if you want a Warg (or if you really can't find the 10 points to spare).

I have never used transfix from a Shaman. A 5+ with only 3 Will ID just not worth it.

I use it on occasion, namely if I only have 1 Will left and no Fury. Nothing to base a strategy around, but nice to know it's there.
