I'm not a big fan of dwarves but I'm definitely going to get some of these just to encourage Games Workshop. As an owner of Kune Kunes I'll have to get Dain too.

They said it would be a couple of months, I think.

sadly, this is not far-fetched. I think forge world minis would actually be cheaper if they were made out of gold.
I really, really hope for prices to be closer to classic GW (I'm not optimistic enough to even hope for them to be cheaper) because I'd really, really love to have those new models, but I also love to eat and pay the rent, so..

But, hey, shades are back! Though they will probably sold out in the blink of an eye. Bringing back old models is absolutely great.

Just snatched a KoM book, some knights and Citadel guard with bows. Can't wait for the Fallen Realms one to be released!

Not, sure. I think Moria/Angmar and Mordor have been on sale the whole time.

Moria and Mordor both stayed in print. As for cost of the dwarfs, the ball park guideline is to use 40k infrantry at Forgeworld wich woudl be about £40 for 10 troops. That from GBHL and the warhammerfest Middle Earth seminars. Pack will be 12 in size with 12 unique poses.

I think the mordor book is wrong. It should be Sauron instead?
He was just avaiable as the Necromancer before the releases, or am I wrong?

So one glaring question here...

If certain older and oop minis/box sets are coming back, in their respective mediums they were last sold in, ie finecast and the much crisper metal.

Does this mean GW still has ( through FW, an outside source or still with them etc ) metal producing capabilities ? this is important for a few reasons as I think we all know, even our "smaller" community will be snatching things up like shades and so on, since they were last done in metal, so these are limited then to the medium they were last made in, and will eventually be redone in FW resin, or GW secretly is re producing metal all of the sudden ?

Cause if it is the last part that is interesting, one would think "after they were all sold out" that was that, or did they set aside some secret stash for this exact time and still only have limited number of these now oop minis ?

Loads of metal models have and is still in production in Metal. They never stopped making metal models for lotr

Of the top of my head:

Floi, Khazad guard, Rohan Royal Guard, Sons of Eorl, spectres, spiders, hobbit militia/archers etc etc etc

I am pretty sure GW has stopped making metal models in general, this is why failcrap came out, and that once the sbg, sg and main fb/40k metals sold out, that was that...that things would be converted to FC or be done in plastic, it's why up until this recent news that we have seen tons of metal SBG minis no longer for sale.

Since this recent news, with for example the shade and the pony box set, that raises some questions over metal itself.

I'm not sure if this has been answered officially or not, but as it's understood, many "metal blisters" and so on, have been "Recalled" to GW HQ for distro through their online store in the respective countries.

This still does not really answer much though, as in does GW have a stockpile stash of currently OOP metal minis, or have they suddenly started up metal casting again...only for SBG ?

I am sorry that I might sound harsh but I know for a fact that GW still makes brand spanking new metal models.

Although no new model has been released in the medium for several years now they still make metal models in house.

A recent example is Rohan Royal Guard Mtd and Floi which both was unavailable with the "email me" button on them. A person published an email on the GBHL site a while ago with an email from the customer service team stating that the models will be back on the website for ordering soon as they are waiting for more to be cast.

also at Warhammer Fest Blood Bowl star players were sold in metal in a new style blister and these have been unavailable far longer than any of the lord of the rings models and they have not been sold in stores since the early 00's

Oh I believe you and it's not harsh at all, it's simply down to what has been taken as fact since failcrap came out, on virtually most "GW" related websites, which was that FC was taking over metal, and since that has sorta stopped being a thing, that plastic would take over both FC and metal.

Of course we all know that specialist games are back, but we do know many SBG metal minis are now oop ( which was assumed to be the above reason ie no more metal production ), the same as SG range going bye bye, this is why during that time and after, the whole what's gone today and better buy it while you can threads were going strong.

So essentially, GW has officially...without any statement, continued to cast metal.

There has been all sorta of chatter about this, from so called insiders etc, that they still have SOME metal casting options, to other things like molds have been destroyed and so on. Of course it's possible this may not have been talked about since the original threads on here, but it was a big deal topic a few years back when it all came out.

I'm sure the Perry's admitted at one point to sculpting Iron Hills dwarves for GW? And yet none of those being released were by the Perry's. I may have this wrong?

I am sure they remember sculpting Bolg and then finding out Bolg was not bolg. They most likely remember sculpting Azog for the first movie then found out that was Yazneg... So they probably did sculpt a version of iron hills dwarves before the actual film was finished and the design changed last minute which has been mentioned many times as being one of the problems with the films.
