Hello!

So I just build my horses and gave my knights their lances. I already figured out that I would paint the horse and the knight apart from each other. But what about the shields? Should I also paint them separately because the shield covers a lot of the knight?

I also saw that hole for the horse is too large for the foot of the horse. How do I drill my own holes in the base to get a better fit?

I recommend a small hobby drill. Alternatively, you can clip off the pegs from the bottom of your horses hooves and glue them onto the base

Yep. Start with your smallest bit and work your way up to larger sizes.

And what about the shields, should I paint them before gluing to the soldier?

That is personal preference. I've done both, but I prefer to assemble 100% of the way and paint everything. Otherwise, you run the risk of painting your mini and after attaching the shield the superglue fumes will cause a white dust to appear on your beautifully painted mini.this doesn't always happen, but indeed occurs. For this reason, I assemble and then paint.

So you also mount the model on the mount before painting?

Yep. 100% assembly. However, I know some folks who paint and then assemble

most of the time. But not always. The high vis stuff is always reachable. Take a look at my warriors of dale once I finish them and judge for yourself.
