I'm having some troubles here.

How would you paint the armour of a moria goblin?
Whatever I do, it always looks too shiny. :(

I wrote a guide for painting gundabad orcs some time ago and the armour method would also work for Moria goblins, see HERE

Thanks! That's a good read, but technically I've done the exact same as you describe there.

- Primed black
- quite a dark silver base layer
- Agrax Earthshade (GW brown wash)
- some silver highlights.

I'm just wondering... The Agrax Earthshade is a shade from GW. What's the difference between undiluted brown ink and a 'shade'? Or is there no difference?

No difference at all. If your model is drying glossy and shiney trying shaking your earthshade to within an inch of its life. I changed to army painter inks for this exact reason.

Ah, thanks for the tip.
It could be that I didn't shake the shade well enough. I just bought a new one since I ran out and maybe I forgot to shake it first.

Alternatively, you can paint it black then dry brush silver over the armor

Thanks! I usually do that with other characters and especially on chainmail, but with those tiny goblins I just can't drybrush it right.

I stirred up the wash a bit and it now works good enough, but there's still room for improvement. I'll keep practising.

Here are my first 3 goblins:

Warg looks great, goblins are good too. A great first conversion.
