Im gonna take this as an opportunity for finally paint Lord Sauron himself!

I havent got a clue how I want to do his armour so I might do a couple of test models first and see what happens.

Gonna be nice to see the finished product!

Reminder to everyone, you may submit no later than the 19th. The poll will go up on the twentieth.

Super Army of the Dead banner klemzy - the cotton wool is subtly great! and I like how you painted his beard :)

My Sauron is finished, I'll take some cool photos over the weekend.

Thank you :) I really just wanted to make small misty feeling with cotton wool - I usualy think that people use too much of it. But that is just my opinion.

So we are at a total of 2 completed entries, awaiting Sauron, and have 6 days to go. Poll goes up on the 20th! Lets get a couple more in. Can't have much of a competition with only 2 models.
Also, great job on the submitted models! :yay: 8)

Can you maybe submit these on photobucket or a different one? I cannot view for some reason, been a couple days I have not been able to see your stunning artwork.

I love your knights. Did you get into the new blue technical paint?

Thanks :)

No, I havent tried the new technical paints.

This is what I did:

Caliban Green base
Nuln Oil wash
Layered with mix of Caliban green and Kabalite green
Highlighted with Kabalite Green
Extreme highlights with Goblin Green

Hm, strange... Anyone else can't see my pictures on Imgur? Or is anyone else using Imgur and have similar problem?

Pics work fine for me (and the mini looks mighty fine too). Using Chrome with various adblockers, for what it's worth...

Nice! Which one is the entry, though?
Also, the warrior of the dead with the banner is loading for me now. Nice job!

Oh, I hoped they could team up for the entry.
If I have to pick one I guess it will be the dead elf.

:sauron: "...he took up again his great Ring in Barad-dur, and dwelt there, dark and silent, until he wrought himself a new guise, an image of malice and hatred made visible..."

I love this model! Sauron was so fun to paint and he looks like a total bad-ass looming over his enemies.

Im very happy with how he turned out and so glad he's in my collection now, he was actually pretty simple to paint, just lots of edge highlighting and recess washing in various blue/purple hues.

I wanted to keep him very sinister and monotone but thought some heat effects around the ring and his eyes would add some interest - Tolkien described Sauron's armour as being blackened by the heat coming from within him.

Great entries, I agree the Dead Marsh Spectre Elf looks the coolest. But they are a nice set together.

Sauron looks great. I love the purples and how you did his eyes and hand. Maybe after the contest you'll post a detailed tutorial?

Really wonderful entries this month, folks. I's be happy to have any one of them in my collection!
