I need to do a lot of painting for most of the scenarios from the recentish Rise of Angmar supplement -- new heroes, many Warriors of Arnor and Carn Dum, etc.

But I already had the models ready for the Fall of Minas Ithil, so I decided to give it a go. Check it out at http://davetownsend.org/Battles/LotR-20250311/ if you're interested to see how it went.

Nice battle report. Your changing the scenario as given in the book was a good balance of a game and gaming the system. It's hard to make a game fair and realistic in the LOTR world.

Thanks, Mapper.

There are a lot of good-to-great GW narrative scenarios. But some of them seem so broken that I wonder if they were playtested at all. I've heard the books get edited down sometimes by marketing or whoever and rules disappear that way, which could also be the source of problems.

When the scenario is based on the "history", there's not a lot of leeway the designers have, as the participants and goals are set in stone. But GW had more or less free rein with the Rise of Angmar scenarios, which makes me a bit less forgiving when things are obviously broken.

Let's hope the other scenarios are better, or at least as easily fixed. Stay tuned!
