These are really nice comversions and I envy your skills. But I must question the advisability of using a two handed weapon on horseback.
This is not a criticism of your work but just an observation and my personal opinion. (For what it's worth!)

Thanks guys! :)

I'm also working on an article for the mounted Elrond and I hope to finish it soon...

The arms look much better in reality, much more natural. Maybe it was just a bad angle for the photo.. didn't really notice that...

Thanks again for the feedback :)
;)

Great work as usual. I reckon the thinking on the two handed weapons
is that elves have such a good relationship with their steeds that they
can use their legs to control their horses when fighting for short periods
of time.

P.S Bart...Is that a rusty hacksaw you have. Shame on you ;-)

Very nice article. And very nice results

If only I was into the 'hobby' aspect instead of just the gaminy then I might try and make some

Another stunning article Bart, and you showed us the basing in stages! :D

Now I can try to get that awesome look too. Perhaps it's drybrushing the grass that makes it all blend better, but your bases are incredible. Now the static grass on all my mini bases looks too green and fake. :( Well, I know the remedy now, if I'm brave enough to tackle them.

These guys are magnificent. I don't see a problem with the arms at all, but this is a subjective pursuit, as with most hobbies, and people will differ.

I see now just how many models you produce, and how quickly. It's fantastic that you can just turn them out like this, while painting those other armies too. I wish I could get to producing at this pace! Keep it up mate, I look forward to that next article.

Thanks again :)

The step-by-step basing... hehe, I did it especially for you Tobold :)
It really is a huge difference when you highlight the static grass with bubonic brown, I do it for all my miniatures, and it goes very quick to, I think it only needs about 2 seconds to highlight them... and it makes them look so much better :)

;)

I found this article very helphul as I consider how to tackle the very same conversions - I want to make Elnaith too. What I like most about your conversion is the seemless transition between the RoR legs and the elf torso, the sculpting of the elven armor covering the rider's upper legs in particular. That really brings it together for me, that and the excellent blending of the sash and cape. I probably won't make any two-handed sword Elnaith but the mounted archer is a must-do!

Thanks for taking the time to photograph the process and write the article.

its fabulously fantastic, buuut....(knew it was comin, didnt you?)

2 handed weopons on horse + elrond looks like he has a twitch or hes enormously retarded, but other than that its great!

One of the best article I've read so far.

Excellent step-by-step guide with amazing final result. The whole group looks simply stunning.

Great article, thanks for submitting it!
