Hi there.

The time has come to present some WiP LotR minis. So first two. Gamling and Elrond. Both mainly finished. Gamling requires only some detail painted and with Elrond i require some feedback, should I add some small stars on his coat, cause now that Elven emblem seems a bit odd.

Gamling:

The face and cloak on Gmaling look amazing.

I'm currently painting my Rohan models with Catachan Green, as Dark Angels Green can sometimes look too dark but it looks great on your Gamling. Maybe I'll use Catachan for the Warriors and Riders and use DA Green for the Royal Guard.

@Farmer Maggot- Here it's DA Green highlighted with DAG mix with VAllejo Sick Green (Goblin Green in citadel palette i suppose).

Catachan green is Great for Warriors, i prefer DAG for RRG and heroes, though Rohan is that kind of army that is mixed equipment so it can be done both ways in the same army, to add a bit of variety. Remember they weren't army such MT warriors so ther cloathing and equipment differes.

In near future I'm going to paint some RoR minis, so I'm looking forward to compare our works

@BilboOfTheWhiteTower- Thanks, I'm glad that you like Elrond's face. I recone face to be 60% of mini's final performance (;) ), that's why it's the element which i spend most time on.

I completely agree...if the face is substandard then the rest of the model, no matter how well painted, just seems to be lackluster to me.
Again excellent job on these guys!! :D

6 pics of finished GAmling. Now only Varnish will be laid and some dust on cloak using dry pastelle.

So what do you thin?? And also if that amount of pics annoys you, please don't hesitate to let me know, I'm always trying to expose everything on mini, that's why I'm Makeing so much photos.

This is mini I painted for training. My army is Wood Elves, and by painting such heroes i'm just keeping touch with hobby, and that's my main source of founding WE army ;)

Is that gamlings normal cloak or have you extended it with GS? It looks amazing :> Paintjob is amazing too, especialy elrond's face. I like the way Gamling's cape is highlighted but it seems some kind of "shiny". I like the freehand symbol on elrond's back. Great painting, keep it up :D

@Sarcon - No it's regular size of Gamling's cloak. It's abit odd that the cloak is so long but that's sculptopr's vision, can't help it ;)

Shiny?? maybe i've touched it with my fingers and that why it's shiny som eplaces, besides I used very strong light so it may reflect a bit.

I'm flattered you like Elrond's freehand, do you think I should add some small stars, or stuff ?

@TheBucklandBrewer- Thanks for some positive comments in both my WiP threads. I must say that I'm feeliing really strong about my minis faces, after you posted your oppinions here ;) Thanks a lot mate

yeah Gamling is looking truely awesome! The only thing I don't like is the base. I think such a great painted mini deserves a better base. but maybe its not finished?

Elrond looks great too :D
P.S. I don't mind a lot of pics. I think its just good so you can get a good picture f what it really looks like

me who has painted those two guys not long ago, can feel every brush stroke you'd put onto them, especially those tiny armour details of Gamling...

they have turned out superb!
the painting is superclean.
the faces full of realistic expression!
I like the darker skin tones (with darker I mean than I usually paint them), they look healthier and not so exhausted with more colour in their faces.

Thanks Beatrice, I just like to add a bit contrast to faces. It makes them look more realistic, though i can never paint Elf skin pale, I just can't leave it without good shading ;) And that hurts me a bit 'cause my Elves have all similar (only slightly brighter) skin tone to Men

Finished photos of Gamling and Elrond. I'm especially curious what do You think about free-hand on Elronds cloak now, since this is my own invention (leave comments either here or in gallery)

I like Gamling in particular (its still one of the best minis IMO), but both of these are very nice pieces.

Great job Haldir! Fantastic.

Awesome finishing touches. The stars on Agent Smith (err Elrond. Matrix ftw ^^) are awesome. Not to keen on dirt on models though, but it looks okay on gamling :>. About the shiny part: I thought it was ink but it's not shiney on the latest picture, so it has to be the lightning. Can't wait to see more!
