Yes I did, which I thought was....interesting.

Bofur on cold drake could mean a dead cold drake, like gimli on uruk hai.

I did. I can only speculate that we will see more back ground for the Dragons. The Rumor is the 2th movie may be called the Desolation of Smaug :!:

Yep. There will probably be a brief flashback to Turin Turambar as part of the build-up for the meeting with Smaug. It is a clever way of building up expectations and improving the impression when Smaug reveals his gem-studded belly to be weapon proof (except for that one weak spot he was unaware of), as well as tying in some Silmarillion stuff as a optimistic little preparation for future movies to earn money by producing.

The movie license for Silmarillion remains with the Tolkien eastate, but we can only hope to see some Silmarillion movies in the future. Despite some weak parts in the Return of the King movie (namely the lack of the Grey Company, the lack of the gathering of Fiefdom reinforcements and the lack of Easterlings and Haradrim infantry and cavalry), the trilogy as a whole must be seen as a huge succes, odd scenes notwithstanding. Heck, I, my brother and our friends were introduced to Tolkien's universe through the movies. Thanks to Peter Jackson, I read the trilogy, the Hobbit, Silmarillion and some other stuff far earlier in life than I would otherwise have done. I do not look forward to the rumoured dwarven boar riders and nor do I like the short beards of the dwarves, but otherwise I think these upcoming movies will be about as good, and do Middle-Earth almost as much justice, as the trilogy did. Best of all, of course, is the huge amount of dwarves in the movie!

If we indeed will see Silmarillion movies in the future, I do hope Weta Workshop make Fëanor and the flight of the Noldor justice.

Good to see GW expanding on the lore and producing more "unknown" elements of the story. I like the fact that they'll have a young Gimli and Aragorn! I also like the sound o f the Bloodwraiths and Iron Hill Berserkers!

This is ridiculously exciting!

If this list is true, then I'm so hyped for the new Rivendell units! I can finally fit some cavalry in (outriders + Elros) without having to ally in. Looks like I'm not making any ally purchases for now :P

Oh and I'm debating going ridiculously over the top and having Arwen, Galadriel and Tauriel in the same army, if I do get some of the new troops - for novelty value, of course.

I'm really interested in Turin Turambar too. His profile is likely to be seriously overpowered, at least up there with Gil-Galad and Aragorn, King.

*SQUEE*

Now I just need to save up...

I would be very surprised if the Tolkien estate allowed them to use Turin and Glaurung. Unless, I suppose, they were mentioned in The Hobbit in which case the estate would have no say in the matter. Either way, a lot of this looks like stuff made up by either WETA or GW. And JUST what we needed - more probably overpowered monsters...

That is because your sculpt knocked their socks off and they needed to rethink their feeble attempt. :)

A friend of mine was literally just commenting that he bet they'd make a lot of Dol Guldur - and so it seems to be.

I remain to be convinced, tbh. Where PJ departed from Tolkien in the films, it sometimes didn't work. I hope he's going to stick to TH as much as poss - and that any 'unexplored stories' are tasteful and in the right vein.

This list does nothing to settle my doubts - but I am aware that GW are probably going to milk the opportunity for all its worth, and in turn take some liberties, just as they did with LotR.

I'd love to be part of the GW team involved in the design process, incidentally - they must have access to some great early footage.

SD.

Alot of these could just be made up GW creations instead of creations PJ went with for the movies. GW pulled alot of things out of their imagination when they made their first supplement Shadow and Flame back in the day. FotR didn't have dwarves, goblin shamans, Durbûrz...GW made up rules/models for Radagast, Tom Bombadil, the Barrow-wights, Elladan and Elrohir, etc. I expect there to be things on this list that are just GW creations, but it really doesn't both me much as I will probably only get a few pieces anyway...ok, that part probably isn't true but I'd like to believe that I won't spend alot. :)

That is because it does not list anything already in mass production, and it seems there is not a great deal from the first movie. Putting thosee two things together I would bet the stone giant is in an earlier release.

Keep in mind that this list starts in July of next year, it does not include anything being released in the next 11 months, so it makes sense that it would be light on the first movie.

I think most of this is [word deleted] to be honest! They are completely destroying the balance of the game with more and more powerfull stuff! A lot of these miniatures don't belong to middleearth either...the gap between LOTR and WHF is narrowing quickly...all those werewolf and vampire thingies, aswell as mounted tomb wraiths and fire archers of mirkwood are to much for me!

I think you should reserve judgement until the films are released. You never know that these 'warhammery' models may actually appear in the films!

And on the release, that is ALOT of new models! Totally excited. Especially on the adventure kits!!! I wonder what they are?

Exciting---but also some dread mixed in. Feels like a seismic shift coming on. I know stat creep is necessary to sell new models--and I look forward to them. Just hoping the game is added to, not overwelmed.

i am really looking forward to these releases. It would provide the potential for some First Age games. Turin sounds really cool (although I know next to nothing about him).
